Hi folks, how are you?
Recently, I realized that I lost sight of the first purpose of this site, which is toexplain how I make my anime. Besides, some people around me asked me how I made my eyes in 3D and so I decided to make an article to explain it in details.
Let’s just get into it:
On this gif, you can see every step of the making.
First of all, I created my eye as a sphere, put my bones and controllers to manipulate it, and then deformed (flattened) it.
Once this is done, all that’s left is to put it in position, change the eye color (for every character) and that’s it!
If you want to use this technique on your project, keep in mind that it was made for cel-shading render, which means that soft shadows can ruin your render because the separation between the eyes and the rest of the face will be revealed.
The advantages is that I can use the same eyes for every characters (just need to change the color) and I can animate by hands, without using any blend shape (or morpher).
I used the same technique for the eyebrows and mouth.
Alright, this concludes my article. Hope you liked it!
Thanks for watching, have a nice week and see you on next monday!!
